When Gwen Lewis, a midwife nearing retirement, finds a stricken mare and foal on the bleak roads of North Wales, little does she know how much her life is about to change.

 

Unable to save the mare, Gwen finds herself stepping in to save and raise the tiny colt. With the weight of grief from losing her husband making her feel lost in the world, it soon becomes clear that both Gwen and the colt will help save each other, and perhaps some others along the way.
